FENDI x CHAOS Capsule Collection

This week Italian fashion house FENDI officially launched their capsule collection collaboration with London-based accessory brand CHAOS —  helmed by Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall. The collection which was first revealed and the FENDI Women’s FW20 show earlier this year in Milan features a series of tech jewellery pieces that offer a luxury take on everyday accessories.

With old Hollywood glamour as inspiration , it reinterprets some classic vintage pieces through the modern eye. Vintage cigarette cases, gold lighters, and evening clutches are re-created and engraved in metal shapes with FENDI’s iconic craftsmanship and style. A four-piece metal shot glass set is suspended from a moulded leather keyring, the traditional clip-on smartphone case is made in metal; a leather and satin minaudière case features a gold chain handle; and even a laptop is given a fur and shearling protective casing. Aries x Hillier Bartley Capsule Collection Partnership

London streetwear brand Aries recently launched their partnership with British luxury brand Hillier Bartley on the creation of a one-of-a-kind charm jewellery collection released earlier this week. The capsule collection is composed of 7 different charms to be worn on Hillier Bartley’s 14K gold plated paper clip earring or co-branded necklace. References from both brands are featured in the collection like an Aries Roman Column, pentagram, ket, throwing star among others . For the partnership the two brands took the opportunity to invite students from City and Islington College for a 3 day multidisciplinary arts workshop in February which spoke to branding, product development, fashion communication, art and photography and each student presented their creation in a variety of formats including film , painting, graphics , clothing, accessories and more. Throughout the process, the sessions were filmed and the students captured in their creative elements by photographer and Aries collaborator Clare Shilland. All of the imagery from the workshop is also set to  be included in a book designed by Art Director Jonny Lu and made into a short film directed by Jeremy Pollard. 

“This will be our second collaboration with Aries. What we love about collaborating with Sofia is the community that gets involved.. Our last collaboration really was both teams exploring and making and creating.. both HB and Aries teams have played a huge part in the collaboration process .. I think the work with the students was a really special part of this project, and has inspired us all.. The act of collaboration is often simplified, but pared back it’s what business is all about.. co-ordinating together to create new ideas, trust and an appreciation of a diversity of ideas.. we are really proud of this wonderful project…” commented Katie Hillier, Co-Founder, Hillier Bartley.

Gucci x Disney New Year Capsule Collection

Not long ago, Gucci announced their second collaboration with Walt Disney in preparation for the Chinese New Year 2020.  In celebration of 2020 — the Year of the Mouse, the partnership sees a lineup of Mickey Mouse branded goods fused with the signature Gucci aesthetic.  A stand out piece being the GG logo canvas coat features all-over miniature Mickeys, tracks suits, jumpers, bag packs, purses, bucket hats and sneakers feature similar designs. 

Just in time for the new year, the Italian brand also released the accompanying campaign featuring some signature Gucci faces and the mascot himself staged at Disneyland.  Shot by Harmony Korine, the campaign captures moments of an adventurous day between rollacoasters, tea-cup rides and cotton candy on the grounds of the most magical place on earth.  The Disney x Gucci capsule collection is set to be released on January 3rd online and select stores worldwide.

PRADA X adidas – Edition NO.1

A collaboration announced a few weeks ago, luxury fashion brand Prada has officially launched the first by-product of their partnership with adidas as a homage to the German sportswear brand. 

The first drop features a version of the Adidas Original shoe —  a sneaker which has been a staple of the brand since its inceptions in 1969, is re-introduced with luxury through Prada’s full-grain leather for its upper, Adidas signature rubber shell toe and triple-stripe heel alongside Prada’s logotype. The shoe is aptly paired with a version of Prada’s bawling bag which has been modified to echo the original bowling bag and give hints towards the Adidas gym bag as it’s executed in superior calf leather with a sports nylon strap.

The mini collection will hit Prada stores on December 4th and will be offered in a total of only 700 pieces worldwide, both male and female. Each piece has also been numbered with the unique serial to number of its production order.

Tongoro x TAMU – A Capsule Collection of Effortless Elegance

Earlier this week, Senegalese fashion brand Tongoro launched the first edition of their Tongoro CollabX series with a capsule collection crafted in partnership with Jamaican style maven and influencer Tamu McPherson. The collection features 10 affordable pieces including blouses, jumpsuits, skirts, pants and dresses all fashioned with unique prints. 

“I strongly believe in the power of collaboration; its a beautiful way to build bridges and have conversation around identity and togetherness.  Tamu is someone I have long looked up to when I first stepped into fashion: she has always had a great sense of style. She is undeniable a force in the fashion industry and a powerful representation of black women in fashion.

She is Jamaica, I am Senegalese, we first met in Paris but we reconnected in Lagos during fashion week, and it was very special for me to welcome her to Dakar, in our studios and to share a part of our process. 

We gave birth to something that will hopefully spark a feeling of pride and belonging to anyone that will wear one of these pieces. The pieces are all fun and very easy. The capsule truly merges & emphasises our vision of the modern woman,” explained Tongoro Founder Sarah Diouf.

A chat with Julie De Libran on her Matches Fashion collaboration

Julie De Libran is a French designer known for her work leading design houses like Prada, Versace and Louis Vuitton. Her speciality has always been the craft of creating unique made-to-measure womenswear pieces that allowed the wearer to feel a level of individual elegance. On her latest venture, De Libran has partnered with London based luxury retailer Matches Fashion on the launch of an inaugural collection. The collection, which marks the launch of her brand, includes a line of red-carpet gowns made from limited edition archive fabrics. Each gown was given a name of the different female personalities who inspired them including Sofia, Charly, Brigette , Gaia, Gilda, Julia, Jones, Blue Bird, Alexia, Martine, Eve and Nancy. 

The designer worked in collaboration with Matches Fashion to create 7 ready to wear pieces and 7 made-to-measure dresses which will be specially created for each client. On the occasion of the launch, Twin had the chance to have a quick chat with the designer about her latest collection. 

Would you call yourself a feminist in some way? 

No , I am a woman, I respect women and I am inspired by women. I am a feminist like all women without the political connotation. 

Each dress in the collection has a name/story, what is it the general idea of each of the names ? What do they mean to you? 

Each name is a person that inspires me she is real or made up. I like designing for women thinking of where they are going, what they like, their passions, their character and how a dress can influence this character or be a character of its own. 

Why did you think evening wear was the best vessel to tell these stories?

I feel a dress is something you cherish it’s one piece you can put on and you are dressed. You can dress it up or dress it down depending on your accessories. It’s timeless, it’s a memory of an important moment like listening to a piece of music that is full of memories. 

What percentage of the fabric used from this collection was recycled ? 

More than 60 percent the rest are made from limited embroidered materials made to measure so only made when ordered without waste. 

What do you hope for a client when they purchase and wear one of these dresses ?

I hope she feels comfort, freedom of movement, elegance, strength, feels it’s timeless, will cherish her dress and then pass it down to the next generation.

FENDI Prints On – Fendi Ft Nicki Minaj Capsule Collection

If there’s one artist that the Italian fashion house Fendi naturally brings to mind, it would be Nicki Minaj. Throughout the years, the Trini-American rapper has made it a part of her agenda to express her love and appreciation for the brand through her occasional mentions of the brand in several of her most popular songs. So it was no surprise when the brand announced they would finally be launching a capsule collection with the artist.

Titled FENDI Prints On, lit the lyrics from her song Chun Li, the collection created in collaboration with Silvia Venturini Fendi, is set to launch on October 14 and will offer a variety of pieces for women, men and kids.  In the collection , a futuristic approach is taken, where the FF logo all over pattern is combined with metallic textiles, shimmering surfaces and bright colours, from oversized puffers and coats to elevated leisurewear. The accessories also take on the same street like characteristic with the brand’s signature Peekaboo and Baguette bags crafted in a range of bright colours and metallics.

For the launch of the collection, the brand and artist have released a campaign shot by Steven Klein with Minaj as the focal point and a flock of models supporting her. The artist has also teamed up with  rapper PnB Rock and record producer Murda Beatz and to release a new single entitled FENDI which has been released today. The FENDI Prints On capsule collection will be available online from October 14 and sold in 52 Fendi boutiques worldwide two days after.

Bottega Veneta x Matches Fashion Exclusive Collection

This month London based luxury retailer Matches Fashion teamed up with Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta, for the launch of some exclusive pieces from the brand’s AW19 collection at their base at 5 Carlos Place in London. 

“The Fall 2019 collection is a statement of new intentions, a new point of view, it’s about building a wardrobe with great pieces to wear. I wanted amid of contemporary and classic, new technologies with a new immediacy, clothes that could be as refined as they were relevant,” commented Bottega Veneta Creative Director Daniel Lee. 

Some of the women’s items in the exclusive  collection include an Intrecciate Nappa rectangular clutch, a Spazzalato cross body, the brand’s quilted pumps , satin coats, cashmere skirts and wool knit dresses. 

“We are very excite to partner with Bottega Veneta on these exclusive AW19 pieces. The luxurious aesthetic of the brand resonates with our costumers and we know they will love the collection that incorporates key runway styles in the beautiful cream and chocolate colourways,” said Fashion Buying Director Natalie Kingham.

Fendi X Jackson Wang launches Capsule Collection

Today Italian fashion house Fendi launches a special capsule collection in collaboration with Chinese celebrity rapper, singer and songwriter Jackson Wang.

The capsule collection is one that continues Wang’s partnership with the brand as an ambassador by mixing fusing his signature style with distinctive aspects of the FENDI DNA, creating a kind of pathway between the worlds of fashion and music. The collection mainly featured in black velvet and chenille includes a formal suit along with more casual pieces like jumpers, t-shirts and trousers. The list of accessories also include a black leather Baguette with a velvet FF logo, a clutch, slide sandals, a baseball hat rendered in chenille, running sneakers and a variety of other ready-to-wear pieces. The Fendi x Jackson Wang Capsule collection will be launching in 33 selected FENDI boutiques and online from July 20th .

Cecilie Bahnsen x Matches Fashion Capsule Collection

Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen recently teamed up with luxury retailer Matches Fashion on the release of a fifteen-piece collection released this week . The collection, a continuation of her SS19 collection,  includes a selection of the designer’s signature feminine designed accentuated with embroidery, beading and other details.

“The designs for the exclusive capsule collection are a beautiful continuation of our last collection. Combining sculptural silhouettes with couture techniques reinterpreted for Matches Fashion woman,” explained the designer. 

For the collection, Bahnsen collaborated with a few female creatives including teenager Margrethe Hjort Hay who inspired the floral beadings as well as photographer Josefine Seifert who shot the editorial. In celebration of the collaboration, Cecile has also put on an installation open to the public until June 1st, at the Matches Fashion Mayfair townhouse, featuring furniture from Swedish Design Group Magniberg and the work of glass artist Nina Norgaard to stylishly accompany the designer’s collection. Adidas Original x Fiorucci SS19

Earlier this year adidas original joined forces with Italian brand Fiorucci for the release of a collaborative capsule collection.

A pairing that worked so well that they had to do it twice. This month the brands announced the release of a second collection perfectly tailored for the waves of the summer. The campaign features a bevy of girls decked out bright coloured swimwear, jackets, shorts, sandals and sneakers. Each of the collection’s pieces combines the sporty aesthetic of Adidas original with the bold graphics and identity of Fiorucci.  The collection is now available on Fiorucci.

Acne Studios X Fjällräven

Swedish fashion house Acne Studios recently partnered with Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven to produce a unisex capsule collection of outerwear and accessories.

This fashion meets nature collaboration celebrates the 40th year since the launch of Fjällräven’s legendary Kånken backpack with three versions of the bag — the classic backpack, a messenger bag and a mini clutch. Also included are added details to Acne’s ready-to-wear designs such as fake fur trims, reflective patches, oversized pockets, along with bright coloured caps, camouflage sleeping bags and t-shirts printed with Swedish flags and hiking scenes. The collection is set to hit stores on September 6th with prices ranging £100- £1300.

Farfetch and AQUAZZURA Unveil Exclusive Capsule Collection

Four beautiful and talented women from around the globe have teamed up with AQUAZZURA to create a new capsule collection. Launching exclusively on Farfetch, Holli Rogers, Claire Distenfeld, Pascaline Smets and Princess Deena Al-Juhani Abdulaziz – all owners of luxury boutiques – have lent their unique eyes to the designs, creating 7 new styles with founder of AQUAZZURA,  Edgardo Osorio.

Osorio commented: “Over the years I have developed a very special relationship with each of the collaborators – some of them have been wearing AQUAZZURA since the very start of the brand. They each have a truly unique and personal style, and it was very interesting for me to work together to create something special that felt very much like them. I also love that these four have completely different personalities and tastes, yet they all have strong characters and an amazing fashion sense.”

Styles include statement suede boots, gold platforms and staple stilettos with multi-coloured detail. Available online now, the collection drops just in time for party season.
