Topshop Unique AW16 hits stores

24.08.2016 | Fashion | BY:

The shift in seasons is truly upon us, well, in a sartorial sense at least. Today sees the long-awaited launch of Topshop Unique‘s stellar AW16 collection, as it arrives in stores and online. So distract yourself from flimsy cotton dresses and kick your way out of those well-worn three-stripe slides, there’s some new kit to play with.

As ever, the girl being designed for by Topshop is part rebellious, part slick – just like London itself. Alongside late-night worthy velvet suiting and slips, there are sequins and corseted minis. Meanwhile, daytime gets a heritage feel, with houndstooth appearing in a variety of blown-out proportions, cropped knits, collared lace and exquisite printed silks inspired by the Bard – The Winter’s Tale landscape.

There is a military element, too, with the introduction of voluminous fur-collar bombers, plenty of khaki and mustard, and hip-skimming mannish army trousers. The final flourish is undoubtedly the swathed duster coats, resplendent with Arctic white shearling. They are the perfect accompaniment to second-skin long johns, a leather mini, those aforementioned sequins or a barely-there negligée. Or, perhaps even nothing at all.

topshop unique ss14

17.09.2013 | Blog , Fashion | BY:

On Sunday the Topshop Unique SS14 fashion show took place, and as always they know exactly what women wants. Effortlessly sexy sundresses with spaghetti straps showing of the best part of the back, slouchy denim and frayed jackets were some of the shows highlights.

Head of design Emma Farrow was inspired by the wild heady days and endless freedom of summer, which translates into a collection of relaxed, fuss-free pieces that would be just as good on a relaxed Saturday in the city as they would on the beach in a far-flung destination.

We could see a lot of transparent voiles and precious silks, suedes and soft textured tweeds with raw edges. It was a mix of vibrant pure colours such as hues of blue, oranges, marigold and dazzling whites, pale greys and shaded green.

Dot to Dot

01.03.2011 | Blog , Fashion | BY:

Monochrome spotted faux fur and models sporting cute painted black noses and puppy ear hair; on first take, TopShop Unique’s Autumn/Winter 2011 show was as dotty and adorable as a room full of dalmatians. But TopShop’s in-house design team delivered more than just cartoon clothes.

Taking the American Jazz Age as it’s inspiration, Unique showed a collection of modern tailoring that evoked the glamour of Thirties Speakeasies and Industrial age New York. Knee high socks, tea-dresses and Mary-Jane shoes were fit for giddy chorus girls letting loose on table tops. While the sleek luxury of down-sized luggage bags and wide-legged suits paid homage to the Goldge Age of the motor car. Decadent and chic, clothes Cruella Deville would have killed for.
