The Shapeshifters
Be it the lines of a brick wall, the diamond shapes on Dalston security shutters (below) or a garment in a Marcus Ohlsson fashion portrait (above) – art director Anna Murray and textiles designer Grace Winteringham know how to spot a pattern. From the, “mundane to the magnificent” this design duo compile a popular visual diary that charts the coincidences and juxtapositions of pattern they encounter from street to catwalk.
But it’s beyond their brilliant online pattern resource, in Patternity’s own studio work, that they really push the boundaries. The girls apply their taste for bold, colourful graphics to furniture, laptops, tights and cycling shorts – and even the interior of a synagogue. For this pair, it seems, pattern is more than a profession, it’s a way of life.
