Try a little tenderness
In an age when so many photographers turn to digital cameras for their instant and easy-to-alter effects, it’s great to find someone like Marlene Marino who is a firm believer in the magic of 35mm. The New York based photographer’s grainy snapshots of cityscapes, and girls casually lounging in their bedrooms, have caught the attention of Purple and Self Service magazines. Marino’s work invites comparisons to an early Corinne Day – but despite the similarities, there’s no denying that her images have a tenderness that is utterly unique.
