Techno-colour dreamscape
For those who are in Santa Monica to see in the New Year keep the 9th of January free – as that’s when Allison Schulnik’s exhibition opens at the Mark Moore Gallery. Allison is a jack of all artistic trades so expect to see anything from painting to sculpture, animation to drawing on show.
If you don’t recognise the name already, you might be familiar with her animation work in psychedelic folk band Grizzly Bear’s video for ‘Ready, Able’.
The video’s just four and a half minutes long, but you’ll need at least triple that time to watch the mesmerising, swirling colours and the haunting figures on repeat. It’s worth a watch if only for the bohemian rhapsody style plasticine heads.
